MYFOXNY.COM - NYPD officers tackled and detained a man witnesses thought had pulled a gun as President Obama visited Lower Manhattan on Thursday.
An Associated Press photo showed the man, wearing a blue hat, being subdued on the sidewalk as an NYPD officer stood over him with a gun drawn.
A report on nj.com claimed that the man "may have" pulled the gun from a backpack. It later updated the story to say the man was unarmed.
The Daily News reported the man was riding a bicycle, saying "Secret Service coming through," before he was tackled. A yellow bicycle is seen near the man in the photo.
NYPD officers and Secret Service agents shouted for people to get down as they tackled the man. It happened at the corner of Church and Vessey Streets.
President Obama had just left the World Trade Center when it happened.
The NYPD had stepped up security around the city for the presidential visit.
President Obama made stops at a firehouse in Midtown Manhattan, the NYPD 1st Precinct in Lower Manhattan and Ground Zero before flying back to Washington at about 3 p.m.
